  • 4 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1½ cups white sugar, divided
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans, divided
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • ⅓ cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Generously grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. Arrange apples in an even layer in the prepared baking dish. Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup pecans, and cinnamon together in a small bowl until well combined; sprinkle over apples.
  3. Stir remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl until well mixed. Whisk beaten egg, evaporated milk, and melted butter together in another medium bowl until combined; pour over flour mixture and stir until smooth. Pour batter over apples and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup pecans.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 minutes.
