Cherry Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ¾ cups cake flour
- 1 ¼ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease and flour one 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Beat sugar and butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract. Add cocoa powder and mix until well combined.
- Combine cake flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl; add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until just combined. Stir in cherry pie filling. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted near the middle comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes.
